Circuits Research - Research from J.R. Sheats and colleagues has provided new data on circuits research
2010 AUG 31 - (VerticalNews.com) -- "The purpose of this paper is to analyze the economics of various printing processes proposed for small-scale electronic products such as radio frequency identification tags, smart cards, and wireless sensors, and to present a new transfer printing method. Design/methodology/approach - The costs of several types of microstructuring techniques were calculated from commercial product data, along with a detailed spreadsheet simulation of inkjet printing for microelectronics," investigators in Waterloo, Canada report ...read more
Circuits Research - Data from University of Saskatchewan advance knowledge in circuits research
2010 JUL 21 - (VerticalNews.com) -- According to recent research from Saskatoon, Canada, "The affine projection algorithm (APA) is a generalization of the normalized least mean square algorithm. We propose a variable regularization factor for the APA." "Instead of the conventional assumption that the a posteriori error is zero, we incorporate the statistical characteristic of the noise into the adaptation process based on a system identification setup. Exact and approximate formulations for the optimal regularization factor are derived," wrote W.T. Yin and colleagues, University of Saskatchewan ...read more
Circuits Research - Research on circuits research discussed by scientists at University of Ghent
2010 JUL 21 - (VerticalNews.com) -- According to a study from Ghent, Belgium, "In this brief, we introduce a figure of merit for the robustness of continuous-time (CT) Sigma Delta modulators. It is based on the Nyquist criterion for the equivalent discrete-time loop filter." "We show how CT modulators can be designed by optimizing this figure of merit. This way, we obtain modulators with increased robustness against variations in the noise-transfer-function (NTF) parameters. This is particularly useful for constrained systems, where the system order exceeds the number of design parameters. This situation occurs, for example, due to the effect of the excess loop delay or the finite gain bandwidth of the operational amplifiers. Additionally, it is shown that the optimization is equivalent to the minimization of H-infinity, which is the maximum out-of-band gain of the NTF," wrote B. Devuyst and colleagues, University of Ghent ...read more
